Windows typically will not allow deletion of system files that are in the active partition from within Windows.

Ideas:

1. If the D: drive is a separate partition: Download and install EaseUS Partition Master Free Edition and format the D: partition. then you can use that program to put that space back into C: partition. Take care how this is done- as a merge- as simply deleting the partition can destroy the C: partition. The program should warn you if it's the wrong method,.

2. Try moving the unwanted files to a separate, logical drive partition. When they are in the non-active partition they may be deleted.

3. In Win Explorer, try renaming a folder in D: by adding: _OLD at the end of the folder name and deleting the folder. If that doesn't work, if there are not too many files, try renaming the files by replacing the extension with .old . In either if these try it on only one folder or file first and if it doesn't work, return the name to the original name.

4. Download WinPE and make a disk of it. This is an installation disk that runs a minimal, independent version of Windows. This may allow you to delete the selected files because the system is running Windows on the WinPE disk.

One of these should work- we will hope it the easiest one!
