how to determine IDE connections?

just read a post on IDE connections but still doesn't make sense to me. I have the identical setup as the person in the previous post (2 40gig hard drives, cdrw drive, dvd drive). how do i know which IdE channels to put devices on and weather or not to set them as master or slave? I plan on doing cd to cd copying with my burner but also plan to burn stuff right off my hard drive. please help me configure the IDE connections. Thanks for help.

I you're going to burn CD to CD then keep the CD drives on seperate channels. If possible, keep the CD-RW on a seperate channel from the HDD your burning from.

Primary master: HDD 1
Primary slave: CD-ROM/DVD
Secondary master: CD-RW
Secondary slave: HDD 2
