thinking about upgrading my display to a single monitor, like an ultrawide. How can I determine if my graphics card would support it?

I have a Lenovo x220, with Intel Core i5-2520M at 2491mhz, Intel HD Graphics 3000, bios 2089.0 .
Currently it runs two external 1920 x 1200 displays through a lenovo 4338 dock. The dock has 2 HDMI and 2 DP outputs.

There are a couple of things that can limit resolution. The type of interface (HDMI, DP, VGA) and for some of those, the VERSION of the interface definition. The other thing is the video processor, in your case the Intel HD 3000.

How can I determine if my graphics card would support it?

For 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors the maximum supported resolutions are:

• DisplayPort 1.1 = 2560x1600 at 60 Hz
• HDMI 1.4 = 1920x1200 at 60 Hz
• DVI (Single-link) = 1920x1200 at 60 Hz
• VGA = 2048x1536 at 75 Hz
