How to determine what type of DVD/CD drive i have

hello guys im planning to buy a new dvd drive but i dont know what kind should i buy please help me determine what is my dvd drive thanks.... i heard theres SATA and PATA please thanks

that motherboard supports both IDE and SATA. it's buyers choice at this point. SATA will probably be the easiest to find.
DVD writer, Blu-ray writer they will all work on that system.

Easiest way to determine which one you have is to open your case up and look at the cables attached to your current drive.
If it has a big, flat data cable and a power cable with a white plug plugged into it, you still have an IDE drive. SATA drives use very small data cables and power cables with flat black plugs.
