how to disable auto arrange icons in win 10

the auto arrange and align to grid icon in the view tab is non existent in the file explorer and i am not even able to drag and arrange the icons when right clicked however this this visible in the desktop and i am able to arrange all icons to my liking

i using windows 10 Home so is this a limitation set by microsoft and can be done in windows 10 pro or is there a solution to this

Hi, apparently it's a limitation set by Microsoft.

There was a work-around for it but it's no longer working since the Creators Update. Read here for more information: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14856-enable-disable-auto-arrange-folders-windows-10-a.html

What you could do is try some type of file Explorer alternative. I don't have any recommendations but I'm sure you could probably find one that will provide the functions you want.

I have tried using alternatives like clover and total explore with no success
Is like windows it self is not allowing me to arrange my files
