how to disable touch pad on dell lattitude E6510 w/ windows 7

i typewhenever (like now) the cursor jumps into another area of the text.
whenever i type the cursor jumps around placing words in random areas on the page. i was told to disable the touch pad,,,,,HOW??

Install the Dell Touchpad driver if you don't already have it and use that.

You should be able to do it in the BIOS and also in mouse properties.
