Hi all
is anyone using tplink archer c6 router in access point mode? I notice that the submenu that allows users to enable/disable wps option itself is not available after reboot post setting the router as access point. Many routers features are not available in ap mode (that's ok) but i think i can not disable wps in ap mode.
any guidance would be great. thx

I really wish they would have removed WPS when it was found to be trivial to hack but too many idiots do not even want to be bothered with putting in a password and even worse there are now so called "smart" devices there is no other way to connect to a network other than WPS.
They really need to change the default to be off and you can turn it on for maybe 30 seconds at time and then it auto disable.

There are many of the scanning tools that show if WPS is enabled on a SSID. Not sure if that really is a effective way to know it is disabled. Years ago "disabling" it on some routers just turned off the broadcast if you knew the 10 digit code you could still connect.
Can you tell if it is actually sending the WPS....ie are you sure it is not disabled by default.

The easiest solution is to not use the AP option and just use the method of making a AP that works on any router. Use a LAN port rather than the WAN to hook to the main router, disable DHCP server, assign a LAN ip that does not conflict with your main router DHCP pool.

Thanks. As such I have never used wps and i even don't know how it works. Just i know that it is to be kept disabled from security point.
Also when I put the router in ap mode by using lan port, can i still use other free lan ports on that ap to connect other wired devices?
