how to do a diskcopy from one external HD to another

I want to "Diskcopy" 1Tb backupassist drive to another 1Tb drive - both NTFS

If I try to drag and drop the backup expands and needs much more space.

Create a disc image of the one to be copied, and then set the destination of the image to the second external.

This can be accomplished in any of the many disc cloning software (Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, etc.)
