How do I downgrade to Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop currently running windows 10, but originally ran windows 8.1? When I went to look under drivers, my serial number listed windows 7 as one of the OS to choose from.

Solution
you can turn off services you don't want to load(1), and prevent applications from starting up at boot(2) easily enough, you can even run a shut-up windows 10 that will turns off all the telemetry from running(3).

(1) click on start, run, type "services.msc" and be careful turning off the application (right click on service and set it to off and not auto)

(2) get CCleaner, runs it, click on tools, and startup, highlight what programs you don't want to run, and select disable. that way if you realize later you need it you can reverse it to enable.

(3) get oosu10 "O&O ShutUp10: download free antispy tool for Windows 10" run it accept suggested changes and voila. , if your meticulous you can go down the list of things you...
then get a windows 7 cd, pop it in, delete partition and install windows 7 on, then perform 198 updates, then another 43, then Sp1, then 127 more updates and then you will be done, reinstall your application you used, and don't forget you will not be supported in the near future for any security updates.

Keep in mind that windows 7 is not supported anymore on 14 januari 2020. Then you will have to upgrade to 10 again (since 8 is just a poor experience on desktop anyways).

Overall 10 is better nowadays then 7.

id be fine with 10 if i could uninstall all the pointless programs like xbox 360, as well as a bunch of other programs i dont need that take up space. if anyone has any advice on how to make windows 10 less shitty id happily stick with 10.

thanks i didnt know support was ending. sucks because i really loved 7. 🙁 but it seems its best to just stick to 10 and make the best of it.

reboot and enjoy.
