How to download a video card driver for free

I need a video driver to be able to load the direct3d for a video game. is this what i need?

You've got to start with the model of your graphics card, AMD or NVidia?

Your looking for the "Download Drivers" link.

If you have neither of these then you probably have an intel media accelerator or Intel HD, which aren't really suitable for playing games.
