SORRY ABOUT THAT. Guess I was typing to quickly and not paying attention.

I have an HP LaserJet 6L.

The printer is connected to the HP Pavilion g6 notebook by using a USB to parallel connector
cable.

I tried twice and twice I fail to get these USB to Parallel cables to work. Some printers just don't play nice with them.

I ended up using one of these two options

I have use this same cable for at least 8 years and never had a problem. Not that I use Windows 7 the printer works very intermittently. What do you think about uninstalling it and then letting Windows 7 locate a driver?

it would have helped to know that it was working at one time. It sounded it was the first time you connected the printer that way.

what happens when you unplug and then plug the USB cable back in? Does Windows recognize that something was disconnected?

have you made sure that the setting To use Printer offline is unchecked in the Printer window in Win7?
