How to enable DirectX 12 Multi-GPU Support

How do I enable the DirectX 12 Multi-GPU Support? Or is it just a passive feature of DX 12? Thanks for any help that can be given.

Passive feature, the game has to be DX12 and has to be coded to support it.

It's a passive feature... Any games that are coded for DX12 will be able to take advantage of it, although not too many games are coded for DX12 yet. The exception to this are older Radeon cards in the HD series that still run the Catalyst Control Center, the solution to this is to install the new Radeon Crimson drivers for these older cards.

Not only is it a passive feature. It isn't even implemented yet.

This is one of those things I would not bank on, nor make purchasing decisions based on until it actually is up and running in software thats available and it makes a worthwhile impact in performance.

What does this even mean? There are no exceptions. Nothing has said that all DX12 games will be able to use it. Its a feature that needs to be implemented in a specific game. Based on all the information released so far.

Rogue Leader is correct, the whole point was to move implementation to the game developers not the GPU suppliers / drivers

Not all DX12 games will support it, like vram stacking the game needs to be specifically coded for it. Its a feature DX12 supports but its up to the developer to use it or not, plus AMD and Nvidia will likly need to make changes to thier drivers to support it.

You don't need any special drivers to take advantage of DirectX 12's native multi-GPU tech. Simply enable multi-GPU in the settings and the game will use the card with the monitor connected to it as its primary GPU while the other is used to improve rendering performance. You will have to disable CrossFire/SLI in the driver, though, to unlink both GPUs for them to be separately addressable.

I see. I was trying to use it on a PNY GeForce GT 610 and an ATI Rage XL that I both have in my computer. Guess it probably won't work on the Rage even if the game is coded for DX 12 because of its age.

I see. I was trying to use it on a PNY GeForce GT 610 and an ATI Rage XL that I both have in my computer. Guess it probably won't work on the Rage even if the game is coded for DX 12 because of its age.

The Rage XL is not even supported by the new AMD Crimson drivers, so there is no chance of DX 12 with it. As well currently the GT 610 does not have DX12 support either. Nvidia did promise it but as of yet has not delivered.

At this point even if the feature is implemented you will not be able to take advantage of it.

The Rage is also 10+ years old.... Presumably only Dx 8 or 9 compatible.

I'm pretty sure that the GT 610 does have DX 12 support. At least that's what it says.

That's just utter nonsense. Older AND cards and CCC have nothing to do with it!

DX12 brings in multi gpu support into directx itself but it will be up to developer to implement them. but then again among DX12 games that available on the market today how many of them have support for multi gpu?
