Laptop: ASUS X55U
processor: am e2-1800
OS: Windows:8.1

I have a amd e2-1800 and i checked that it supports virtualization using the Securable. I tried to go to the bios from the windows 8.1 uefi. There was no option to enable virtualization nor was a there a tab to configure the processor.

Requirements:
What You’ll Need to Run Hyper-V on Windows 8

In order to run Client Hyper-V on Windows 8 you’ll need the following:

Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise 64 bit Operating System
64 bit processor with Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)
BIOS-level Hardware Virtualization support
At least 4GB system ram
If you are running 64-bit Windows 8 and meet the hardware requirements listed above you’re equipped to give Client Hyper-V a try!

Most probably, you're running non-Pro version (cheapest and most popular). So, your choices are down to third-party VMs: VMWare, VirtualBox

Your Goal is to restart your computer, Press the Setup Key (Escape and so on.), Find and See if Virtualization support option and Hyper-V option is rescued, If rescued, Enable it, If not, Get the CPU that supports Hardware Virtualization (Not locked off) and repeat the steps (before putting the CPU, Make sure it's fitness and size is compatible and the computer will be shut down), Press Escape key and press the Save & Exit key, Move to Yes if not auto-moved to Yes, If auto-moved to Yes, Just Press Enter, Wait for few minutes, Open Virtualization Detector and see if that helps, if not, You think that Hyped-V is forget to turn on (if Windows 7/Vista/XP), Open VirtualBox or VMWare Player or Workstation (if Windows 8)

If this step is not helpful, Get the CPU that supports Hardware Virtualization (Not locked off) and repeat the steps (before putting the CPU, Make sure it's fitness and size is compatible and the computer will be shut down).

hi sorri I'm answering so late but if you are still having this problem or for others that are having the problem once you enter Bios you go to computer setup from there you got to system security and it will ave a box that says virtualization enable/disable change it to enable then save and exit. To enter Bios from your pc you go to settings > change pc settings > update and recovery > recovery > restart now , this will restart your pc then take you to the menu where you can access bios by pressing (f12, f10, or in some cases esc) it will let you know what to key to press when the screen comes up. Then you enter Bios and follow the above instructions. I hope my answer didn't confuse you, and I hope it solves yur problem if not feel free to ask me for further advice or assistance ^^
