[SOLVED] How to extend 3 monitors, 1x3 splitter does not extend.

Hi,

My question is how do I extend to three monitors from my laptop? My graphics card is Intel graphics 620. My three monitors are identical. They are Dell p2217h. Each possess an HDMI port, Display port.

I tried using an HDMI splitter but all it really did was duplicate my second display unto three screens. I also have found that my graphics card can support up to 3 screens.

So how do I make this possible? I have seen things like daisy chaining two monitors but I'm not sure how for three three?

The idea I had was doing this; Monitor one being my laptop screen, going hdmi to my 1st monitor, then 1st monitor going display port to 2nd monitor and then maybe 2nd monitor going from a conversion wire Hdmi to display port? Will this even work? Will it allow my pc to detect the three external monitors? Please let me know!

Solution
Only DisplayPort is capable of sending multiple video streams out of a single port. On non-DisplayPort connections, 1 port = 1 screen, splitters will only duplicate.

If your monitors don't have DisplayPort, then you need to use a 3-port DisplayPort hub with three DP-to-HDMI adapters on the output. Some DP hubs have the adapters built-in, giving you a 1-DP to 3-HDMI hub, like this:

Also please note, the Intel HD 620 only supports up to 3 display simultaneously, so if you have your laptop screen active then only 2 external monitors can be supported at the same time.
