How to extend a partition in windows vista

Hello,i follow all the instructions re extending a partition and when i go to my c dpartition i right click but don't get the option of expanding it. not even when i log on as the administrator. the expand option stays grey and not black like the shrink option does. i'm using a toshiba satellte and have vista home premium.
