How to extend my desktop

I have a desktop pc with two monitors connected using a vga splitter. will it just keep mirroring or is their a way expand my desktop. I dont know to much about computers

you can change from mirror to extend through the control panel -->apearance personalization --> Display --> Change display settings

I think you mean that you want more than one monitor hooked up. Now both of your monitors just display the same image (correct?). The only way to make both monitors work together would be to add a graphics card.

If your using a splitter than the image can only be mirrored. To get the monitors to act as two different, connected screens (I'm assuming that's what your trying to do right?) than you'll have to connect them to separate vga/monitor outputs, instead of splitting the connection, then change the display setting to make your monitor setup work.

You got it. thats what im trying to do. So i need a graphic card. Ok I have a Hp Pavilion Desktop Pc. Like I said, i dont know to much about these things, only how to do my work on them. So what kind of graphic card would i need for this?

What price do you want to spend? What resolution is you monitor(s) and how many monitors do you want to run 2 or 3?
