How to find a graphics card compatable with my system

My hardwares pretty old, currently I'm still on windows xp with 3 GB of ram an intel core 2 cpu 6300 @ 1.86 GHz processor, the power supply is I think 350 or 400 I don't quite remember. My monitor is 1280x1024, and my graphics card is 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO and I would like to replace it, given the fact that my computer is fairly out dated what are my options for graphics cards? And what else would I upgrade to get an optimal graphics card? Also, is there any other information you would need to answer my questions?

You can't guess what your power supply is. Maybe try looking at it and find out what it is?? Make and model.

So we need to know your psu make and model and your budget.

You should look at overclocking your cpu, those are the best overclocking cpu's EVER made, I know I used to have one.

Where would I find that information at? I tried looking at the cord but I didn't see it on there.

Their should be a chart located on the back of the PSU.Look there.Also can you say how many amps are on the +12v rail(s)?

The best GPU you could run on that PC without getting bottlenecked would probably be a 6670.They go for about $80-$100.

Turns out it's a 275W Power supply, the Model:H275P-01 However I'm having a hard time finding the make, There are two things stated and since I don't know what P/N is here you go.
P/N: HP-L2767F3P
Dell P/N: MH300
Or am I totally in the wrong area here?
The amps on the +12v rail is 17A.
If I wanted to replace my PSU what would I be looking at?

Yes it would.But you should get the measurements and see if it will fit in your case.

If your current power supply is a standard atx power supply then any standard atx power supply will fit.

The psu you choose will be based on the graphics card you choose.

Personally if I were you I would first upgrade my monitor. If your still using a monitor thats 1280x1024, a new graphics card would just be a waste imo.

Don't forget that the OP has a 1.8ghz Dual Core.Anything more than a 6670 will get bottlenecked.And I believe O.C.ing is out of the question.

True, but why is overclocking out of the question. That cpu will easily hit 3.2ghz+ on stock volts. That's the best overclocking cpu EVER made.

The OP doesn't know how to O.C. and I'm not sure they want to.

Yeah Dell.....It's a shame I had that cpu and ran it 24/7 at 3.45ghz.
