I am planning on building a computer very soon and I want to have this NVMe drive for my storage..

I really do not fully understand how M.2 sockets work. It seems to me that there are multiple different socket types for M.2 drives but only certain sockets can handle the high end NVMe drives like the one linked above. I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me all the different M.2 socket types and types of drives and what works with what.

Thanks.

Solution
All you need to do is find a board with a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 intertface m2 slot. Some older boards only support NVME disks that are PCIE 2.0 x2 and SATA, which are no faster than a regular SATA III SSD.

^^^the post above is the correct answer. The M.2 socket will use the bandwidth of the PCIe lane. You want a PCIe 3.0 x4 lane. NVMe can't even max out a 3.0 x4 lane anyway, so you can be sure they can handle the NVMe speeds.
