How to find AMD processor temperature with sufficient accuracy?

I am using AMD A6 6400K cooled by the fan that comes with the package on the ASUS A68HM-K motherboard. I also applied thermal paste on top of the processor. Here is what happens when processor runs at 3.9GHz and the fan at full speed:
In HWmonitor under my processor, package temperature shows as high as 85-90 degree C. In coretemp cpu temperature shows like 15-25 degree C. In AMD Overdrive cpu temperature shows like 49-55 degree C. In all of the softwares I used motherboard socket temperature remains same like 47-49 degree C.
So what is happening here? Is there any software to measure the processor temperature accurately?

AMD recommend using AMD Overdrive to read the thermal margins (distance to throttling) because it's far more accurate.
