Looking to get all of the companions possible in Fallout 4 so you never have to go it alone in the wasteland? Well look no further, below I'll show you where each of these companions are located for you to recruit them.
Step 1) Find the companion you are looking to recruit. There are 13 companions total that you can recruit. They are found at the following locations:
Codsworth - Location: Sanctuary
Dogmeat - Location: Red Rocket Truck Stop
Preston Garvey - Location: Museum of Freedom, then moves to Sanctuary
Piper - Location: Diamond City
Nick Valentine - Location: Vault 114, then moves to Diamond City after quest
Paladin Danse - Location: Cambridge Police Station
Deacon - Location: Old North Church
Cait - Location: Combat Zone
Strong - Location: Trinity Tower
Curie - Location: Vault 81
Hancock - Location: Goodneighbour
Maccready - Location: The Third Rail (Goodneighbour)
X6-88 - Location: The Institute
Step 2) Help them complete a quest. In many cases, just finding them isn't enough, talk to them once you've raised their affinity and they will usually provide you with a quest to do. The exception to this would be Dogmeat, and Codsworth. These two will join you as soon as you find them, so are by far the easiest to recruit.
Step 3) Ask them to join you. Complete the quest for them, and talk to them again. Sometimes you will have to wait a day or two in game before you talk to them again, but they should have an option for you to ask them to join you.
And that's it, you just need to find them and complete a task for them, and they'll follow you around and even help you carry home all the junk you could ever dream of! Congratulations.
