I cannot find the model/part number of compaq presario cq42 notebook pc.

Can anybody help to to solve my problem?

Shutdown Windows and power off. Turn laptop over and remove the battery. In the battery compartment you will find the information you are looking for.

If it's not on the back open the battery compartment and you will find it. If it's not there, check around your laptop screen for the model number. The part number might of somehow got took off.
