How to find network security key

Please help.

It has been about a year since I last installed my wireless router, and I am adding a new laptop to the house. I cannot recall the password or username.

When I click on the device icon on the main computer, it requests that I enter username and password. Both of which, I no longer know.

How do I fix this problem.

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums

You could reset the router to factory settings which would leave you with the default login and password as per the makers manual or website. It would probably default to a fixed security key as well but that may be only WEP which is not strong enough today.

If you want to go down that road, look for the little hole into which you poke a pin to hold the reset button down for ten seconds or so.
