Hello everyone!

I plan upgrading my CPU and checked eveything for compatibility so far. Now I just read that it also could be that my BIOS wont recognize the new CPU, but unfortunately after spending hours of searching I didnt find a list showing compatible CPUs for my BIOS.

At the moment I have an Intel i3-3100m and I want to upgrade to an Intel i7-3632QM. They are both using the Ivy-Bridge and rPGA 988B socket, so this wont be a problem. I am using AMI EFI BIOS version 509 (I think its date is 23.01.20013) and at the moment there are no further BIOS updates provided by my mainboard manufacturer.

So it would be a big help if someone could tell me where or how to check if the new CPU is going to get recognized by my BIOS.

Thanks in advance for every effort!

Puh, laptop and mainboard manufacturer is Medion, the model is Akoya P7818.. Aida64 also provides me with this information regarding the motherboard (motherboard name is unknown using Aida64): Motherboard ID 63-0100-000001-00101111-122211-Chipset$1APTJ005_BIOS DATE: 01/23/13 09:09:01 VER: 04.06.05

cpu-z just telling me that the manufacturer is Medion and the model P7818 1.0

I didnt get too much information out of Medions website, since they dont really focus on people who want to mod their stuff 😉. So they didnt put anything regarding this in their manual.

Thanks for your fast replies so far!

If they would only provide me with this information I would be so happy... But spending hours on the medion website didnt lea to any success so far.. I just wrote them an eMail and need to hope that they provide me with the information needed. Unfortunately I didnt make so good experiences with customer hotlines regarding technical issues so far. Probably they will only tell me not to upgrade my CPU at all and rather by another of their products and so on 😉.

Nevermind, thanks to all of you!
