How to find out if my processor is working or not

i have a gigabyte 8s661fxmp-rz board the fan spins and than stops than spins again... i can understand if the processor is not working or the fan is gone bad.. i dont want to buy a processor if its not the problem,,,

Sounds like either a bad PSU or bad RAM.

Sorry I misunderstood the OP. Is your system booted and running when this happens ?
