If the online detection fails - do the CMD method Open your CMD as Admin and type wmic bios get serialnumber Hit enter - Voila! Then enter it in Google. Better yet - type: wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version,serialnumber Usually the serial number will be on the bottom sticker of your laptop. you may need a magnifying glass. But if not the CMD method should work 100%. I did this fairly often when motherboards weren't clearly marked.
