how to find whats on my external hard drive

I have both my laptop and pc backed up on my WE 1TB external harddrive. But how do i find what I want...seems like it's a series of numbered files. HELP!

what program are you using to back it up?
Most likely there should be 2 files no matter what program
since you didnt name them acordingly, you have to restore both to figure out which is which

Basically, if you use backup software to create the backups (something I never do) then you cannot access the said backups directly as individual files - - - you have to use the "Restore" function of the same backup software.

That's why I don't use backup software - - I create my backups manually (drag/drop or copy/paste) so that the backups list is identical to the original files list, and can be accessed by me directly.

The only time I do use backup software is for creating (and restoring) disk images, but never for file backups.

Macrium Reflect can mount it's backup as a virtual disk allowing not only to see what's on it but also to change/delete/ad files to it.
