Hi,

So my GTX 780 is giving me problems. The last two weeks I've been getting random black screens while gaming. After that,I can't see a thing on my screen(usually the PC is still running with whatever applications running in the background) and I have to forcefully shut down.

Now, I've tried latest/older drivers. I've monitored temperatures with EVGA Precision X and MSI Afterburner. I've messed with fan settings and put them to aggressive. Temperatures don't seem to be the issue. Also, I've actually set my core clock speeds back to as low as I could go and while it seems to work for a while, the black screens eventually come back (delayed to maybe an hour or so)

What's going on here? How do I fix the issue? I'm get utterly fed up and could really use your solutions. Thanks sincerely!

Windows 10.
RAM Corsair Vengence DDR3 16GB
PSU Corsair AX760
CPU i5-4670K
GPU EVGA GTX 780 ACX Superclocked
MOBO MSI Z87 G45 Gaming

What's going on here?

Either your GPU or PSU is shitting the bed. But i would start with a few things just to be sure. Take the case apart and check all your connections. If any of them are lose they may be heating up after prolonged use causing a short leading to the GPU shutting down to protect itself.

Next thing I would do is take the GPU apart and check the thermal paste to see if its dried up. Also check the heatsink for dust/debris that may have clogged up preventing airflow.

Do you have another GPU to test with? That would be the next thing I would do to be sure the PCI-E slot isn't shitting the bed.

Start with those and tell us how it goes :)

It's my only gpu and the only one I can get my hands on. I've opened up the case and checked leads. All seems securely in place. I replaced the thermal paste inside my card and dusted out everything I possibly could. I would like to think that my Corsair power supply isn't the issue being only 2 years old.
Now,I noticed yesterday that GPU fans went nuts(fans got really loud) just after the latest black screen. What does that mean?
