I bought a new alienware 18 laptop about 5 months ago and I have noticed a clicking noise in the bottom right side of the laptop. I also noticed that the noise only happens when I'm downloading something. And it is only a faint clicking noise and there is no pattern in the clicks. I have done all the tests such as SMART test and the computer passed all of them.

Edit: I just noticed that the clicking noise is in sync with the hard drive activity light, what does that mean?

Solution
The only things in a computer that can make noise are fans and hard drives.

I would guess it's your hard drive, which is fairly easy to replace. But the fans should be replaced by a qualified laptop technician. I'd help ya but you probably don't live in Minneapolis.
If you are concerned about it call Dell. They will help and the fix will not cost anything.
If I was you I would keep a backup and not worry about it. OR it might be a good idea to upgrade that drive to an SSD.
No moving parts = No noise (So at least your HDD will be silent.)

(Side note: I used to work for Dell as a warranty service technician.)

I heard that a clicking noise isn't necessarily an issue and could be something normal especially if the HDD passed the SMART test and if there is no freeze or lag accompanied by the clicking. I tried every test and all of them said that my HDD is 100% healthy. Could it still be that the HDD is dying and the tests just can't detect it?.
After doing some research I found an article from Dell that said that they know about the clicking noises in some alienware laptops and they said that this is a normal thing and they provided a firmware update to minimize the noise. Unfortunately the firmware update was only for laptops with Seagate HDD. I was hoping there was a similar thing for Toshiba drives.
