How to fix explorer exe playing log off sounds

How do I stop Windows Explorer.exe from playing log off sound, keeping computer from shutting down?

- Click Start, type "System Sounds" into the search box, and press <Enter>

- Make sure the "Sound" tab is selected in the dialogue box

- Under "Program Events", scroll down to "Windows Logoff" and click to highlight it

- Under "Sounds", click-the drop-down listbox and select "(none)" (first item in the list)

- Click the "OK" button
