For ages I have had a Blue-ray DVD writer (Pioneer BDR-XD07B) that was recognized as being just that. For some reason, Windows now recognizes it as "Linux File-CD Gadget USB Device" and it won't burn CDs anymore (it might or might not read either, but I haven't tested that function out). I tried the standard helpline troubleshooting steps (rebooting, uninstalling the device, doing Windows update, searching for drivers...) to no avail.
Pioneer has a page for support for this device but a) it has no drivers and b) it does have a firmware update and an instruction manual link, but both links are broken.

Does anyone know a place I can find these drivers today for a manual (forced) update, and if there is anyway to "lock" the driver so Windows doesn't change it again? (Second step only useful if first step accomplished).

i can see that linux error a lot for mobile phones, a dvd drive is different

i would test the burn capability on another PC if you can, it might be the drive itself causing error.

the links here to BDR-XD07B worked for me?

Thanks. I tried the site again, and when I couldn't reach it on 3 different browsers, I looked into the error code (ERR_CONNECTION_RESET). It seems it's a problem with a security certificate. I occassionally run into this problem, is there a way to fix it so that I can download the driver?

Direct link to the driver: https://pioneer.jp/cgi-bin/device/download/file_get_e2.pl?file=BDR-XD07B_S_TB_TS_CB_FW103EU.exe
direct link to the Drive utility: https://pioneer.jp/cgi-bin/device/d...eerBDDriveUtilityXDSeriesSetup_v1.2.0.004.exe
