I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda internal harddrive. I've had this for almost 2 years so there's no warranty left but when I've placed the harddrive in to my computer case i must have connected it incorrectly as the connecting port has bent and snapped inside the connector. Hard to explain as I'm not good with the terminology of the parts but I'll attach pictures which will show you whats up.

Basically my computer wont run from the harddrive anymore and i think this is the problem (not connecting properly). I assume i need a new harddrive but i need to get the data off the old one onto a new one. Because the piece has snapped off the harddrive connector and not the wires' connector I don't know how I'd reconnect the harddrive to my computer to get the data off :((

Help ?

Ill give it a go, i doubt it will attach back on. What situation would i be in if i sent it back ? I mean cost wise and will I lose any data ? Thanks for the reply :)

You would send it off to them because it could be a loose plug. They would probably put a new one on there and then send you back. I will look at repair prices for you :) And you're welcome.

Nice, thank you. Appreciate your effort. I managed to pull out the broken piece out of the connector (see attached image). Looks like i have to send it back as it doesn't connect at all :( Ill take a look at the data recovery links you have found, thanks again :)

Yeah quite cheap arent they, its how to get the data back im worried about. On the Seagate site you pointed me to it says its going to cost £49.00 Engagement Fee & £363.40 Recovery Fee but '' RECOVERY FEE DEDUCTED AUTOMATICALLY ON SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY ''. Does that mean I'll have to pay just over £400 but ill get the £365 back when they're done ? Why do they need that ?

Few months ago i put an old harddrive in to my case and noticed the connection to my main harddrive was broken. Plugged it back in and was still working. So, stupidly, I forgot about replacing it and now its decided to stop booting from it. So I took it out and remembered about the fault.
