I will often get extreme amounts of lag spikes and packet loss when playing games. It makes playing online impossible. I don't know what to do at this point. I used a ping plotter which shows me getting 30 ms on average with jumps to over 1000 every few minutes, and with an average of 8% packet loss. I am using a desktop PC on a wireless network.

Solution
Not surprised that you are having problems. Wireless has far higher packet loss than wired, but if you have good wireless equipment it can be mitigated. USB adapters and ISP supplies routers do not qualify as good, they are in the marginal range. Since USB adapters get their power from the USB port, they don't have the range of PCIe adapters. Not to mention you might have an AC1200 adapter that runs off of USB 2.0, that won't give you your full speed. Also with a 100mbps connection you really only are getting around 50 after overhead from both USB and wireless. ISP supplies routers are generally crap for the wireless.

That probably means it is an issue with some point in the wireless network.
What is your wireless signal strength? What wireless card do you have? What do you have for a wireless router?
My signal strength is usually 100mpbs (5G) and I do not have a card, I use a netgear USB adapter. My router is an Xfinity Gateway

Yeah I've definitely been needing an upgrade for a while now. The gateway itself is fine, its just my USB adapter is really janky. I will probably upgrade to this PCI adapter which also has bluetooth (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p...3279&cjevent=3763455dcd9c11e9833901750a1c0e0b )
