How to fix slow HP970Cse printer

I have a favorite HP 970Cse printer & use it daily. For no apparent reason it sometimes prints very slow. Is there a fix for this?

I would install the newest driver first:

If that doesn't work you might have a defective ink cartage, or board issue.
