Question How to fix SrtTrail.txt error?

Hi All,

A few days ago I booted up my PC and was greeted with a "Diagnosing your PC" screen, then followed with the log file:

"E:\Recovery\WindowsRE\Winre.wim\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt"

At this point I cannot enter safe mode, reset/restore my pc and I have already tried several command prompt "fixes" such as the chkdsk function which didn't work. At this point I think my files are corrupted somehow, but I can't do anything to fix it. Just in case it wasn't clear, I can't get past "diagnosing your pc" and the best I can do is the advanced options for recovery.

Are you able to try a clean install?

you can see if you can save any files by doing this:

On another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB - handy boot drive

boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type notepad and press enter
in notepad, select file>open
Use file explorer to copy any files you need to save to USB or hdd

if you can save anything, take it, as clean install is normally best answer for that error
