Windows 10 error f081f usually appears in recent upgrades or installs where the .NET framework 4.5 is installed by Windows but programs you later install require version 3.5. For some reason, version 3.5 isn’t installed by default and can occasionally have trouble downloading the update from Microsoft. Fortunately, it is simple to fix the Windows 10 error 0x800F081F.

To make the final step work you will need a copy of the Windows 8 installation media. Before that, try a couple of quick fixes that have been known to work.
First:
Run Windows Update and make sure you have all the latest updates.
Then:
1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Type or paste ‘sfc /scannow’ and hit Enter. This will check file integrity.
From Windows 8 installation media:
1. Open the Windows 8 media and find \sources.
2. Type or paste ‘Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source: PARTITION:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess.
3. Type or paste ‘dism /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth’ and hit Enter.
Where you see PARTITION, put the drive letter of the Windows 8 media. For me, this was ‘Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:E:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess' as the installation DVD was in my E: drive.
