how to force vsync on windows 10 desktop?

it's not obvious all the time but it definitely is obvious when I'm scrolling forward or backward on mt4.

in earlier versions of windows you could force vsync with aero but not anymore. is this just a problem with the software itself?

I have installed the latest drivers for my video card.

If this is a NVIDIA card then go to your NVIDIA Control panel and Go to manage 3D settings.

Inside both Global and Application Settings you will find VSync there.

my screen randomly went black and it looks like vsync is enabled

You could always use riva tuner and limit your FPS there.

if I enable vsync for everything it works but that's it

Well Check what application exactly you use besides the windows explorer(explorer.exe)

Add it to the Application Settings and set Vsync for it there.

Make sure triple buffering is off, pre-rendered frames is 1
