How to format the hard drive and reinstall windows

I am building the new gaming pc but i am using the old hard drive which has windows xp in it so how to format the hard disk from bios before loading windows 10 os ?

Just choose "Custom" installation when installing Windows. When you get a list of drives to choose from, choose "Drive options" at the bottom and "Delete Partition". <--- That is from memory, so that may not be exact, but should be pretty close.

i am replacing everything in my cpu except the hard drive so is it necessary to format the hard drive which has xp before installing windows 10 ?
