[SOLVED] How to get 144hz on a monitor from a laptop

I bought an HDMI 2.0 cord so that I could get 144hz on this monitor, https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VG248QE...words=asus+1080p+144hz&qid=1633374772&sr=8-10

I did not know however that the HDMI port on that monitor was only HDMI 1.4, and upon researching if my laptop's (Dell Inspiron 7567) port is HDMI 2.0, I got mixed responses but majority said yes it is HDMI 2.0 and yes it does support 144hz. I am wondering now if I got an HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort cable (something like this https://www.amazon.com/CableCreatio...mi+to+displayport+144hz&qid=1633373818&sr=8-3) that supports 144hz if it would work, or if I simply would have to get another monitor that has an HDMI 2.0 or a new pc altogether.

Yup, the sticky has specific information about this monitor. It does not support 144 Hz over HDMI, no matter what cable you use.
