So someone recommended I buy CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6600 CL 32 RAM for my new build so I did.

I probably should have done more research because I now understand that it doesn't just run at 6600MHz out of the box. Apparently I have to enable something called XMP, but I have no idea if that's easy to do or if it could lead to problems. Is this just something I can press a button for and forget about or is there a lot of tinkering involved?

I've never overclocked anything before.

What would have been the outcome if you did do more research? Buy base speed ram and gimp performance? Naw, every pc enthusiast enables xmp, there's nothing difficult about it. Really, there's no reason for concern, xmp is just a basic bios setting that runs ram at rated speed. Motherboard manual will instruct specifically how to enable, usually just pinpointing where the setting is. Just turn it on then save and exit. Check ram speed in task manager.

Though, xmp is motherboard dependant.so board must be either B660/Z690 for xmp to work at ram's maximum speed. Lower chipset models such as h610 is limited to base ram speed ragardless if ram is faster, to whatever ram speed cpu supports natively which is DDR5 4800MHz.
