how to get a fps boost in games?

Hey Guys!I am currently running a gtx 660 on q9550 processor.Getting 32fps avg in ac syndicate on high and in night i get 38 avg. so my ques is if i upgrade to q9650 would i get a fps boost as gpu usage is just 60% or upgrading to r9280x or gtx 960 would do the job?

Both components are old and wouldn't expect much running any modern game at settings and 1080p. AC Syndicate is both gpu and CPU intensive, you need to monitor CPU and gpu usage and the one staying around 100% usage is the one hold you back the most. If it turn out to be cpu is your limiting factor going to a q9650 might help a tiny bit but really you should be looking at spending money on a more modern platform, throwing money at out of date hardware is never cost effective in the long term

Except for that, a cpu/mobo upgrade would be in order.

Your monitor is works gives 75 hz at max with no adaptive or/ VS.

for the games you are playing syndicate etc - modern day i3 will also be enough for 60 + fps.

To your final query - No Q9650 would not aid you. 960 would.
