How to get bootable disk from internet

Hard drive broke bought new one for hp originally had windows 7. But upgraded to Windows 10 you never came with a boot up disk recovery disk or nothing I never made a recovery disk what do I do to get the new hard drive booted up all I have is my old computer Windows XP but it has a DVD burner / CD burner and it has a DVD program on is it possible to create a bootable disk from the internet and burn it onto my DVD cuz all I have is DVD+R I don't have CD+R help please

You can download the media creation tool for Windows 10 here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

And it'll allow you to create either a bootable USB (just attach a 4GB or greater drive, follow the prompts and then boot from it on the new system once complete), or download the ISO disk image which you can then burn to a DVD (then boot from it etc etc).

When you're installing, just select "I don't have a product key" and it'll activate once your back online - assuming your upgrade W10 was activated, of course.


Just make sure you select the correct version of Windows (home, Pro etc) when creating your media &/or installing.
