How to get downloads back after reinstalling windows

Hi, Recently a update for my windows 7 failed and would go because of this I had to reinstall windows 7. Now my computer works, but how to I get my things like folders on my desktop, steam and my nexus mod manager?

if you didn't backup your files from before the reinstall chances are they are now removed and/or overwritten... if you know exactly what files you're looking for try searching with recuva...

most probably they should be in "windows.old" folder in c.... or they must be gone..

Steam should let you re-download your games after you re-install it. But any saves stored locally are gone if you didn't make a backup first. Anything else you paid for the download rights should be available through your account with those vendors.
