[SOLVED] How to get higher refreshrate from my laptop

My laptop does not have DisplayPort or USB-C, so I'm trying to find a way to get 120/144hz to my monitor.

The laptop itself got a 1660TI, alongside with an inbuilt 120hz display. However, I obviously don't like playing on the laptop display.

It has a HDMI 2.0 output, which supports higher HZ, but the issue is that my monitor does not support HDMI 2.0, only displayport.

How can I then achieve a higher refreshrate?

That's a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, it won't work from HDMI to DisplayPort.

There are no adapters for this situation, the highest DP to HDMI adapters max at 1440p 60 Hz or 1080p 120 Hz, which will be limited to 60 Hz at all resolutions in this case because G-Sync monitors do not support display-side scaling, so refresh rate cannot be increased by lowering the resolution.

You need a non-G-Sync monitor to get more than 60 Hz through HDMI.

There is no way to get more than 60 Hz in your situation unfortunately. You would need a different monitor.

The FreeSync feature doesn't work over HDMI, but you will be able to use the monitor, yes.

That monitor (and almost all ASUS monitors) are limited to 120 Hz over HDMI. If you really want the full 144 Hz then most AOC monitors will support 144 Hz over HDMI.
