How to get internet access ?

I am going to be getting a gaming pc in the near future and would like to know how i can get internet in my room sufficient enough to play multiplayer games. I realize the best option is ethernet, but thats not possible for me.

Are there any other options?

That depends on so many things....

Are you willing to pay for it?
Where is "your room?" In a dorm, in your house / apartment, in your family's house / apartment?
Why is Ethernet not possible for you?
What type of Internet connection do you have now? If WiFi, who is providing it?

We really need a lot of details. The answer could be "Have Internet service installed in your home" or "Use a decent WiFi repeater" or any of a dozen things.

My room is upstairs in my house, while the router is down stairs. I'm with bell (fibe internet) and it broadcasts 2.4GHz (b/g/n/a)
I get high download speeds with my macbook air upstairs around 28mb/s but my ps3 struggles 3 mb/s

i'm willing to pay for a PCI wifi adapter but not sure how effective it will be

Just as a test, carry the PS3 downstairs and see if it gets any better speeds. Let's see if it's just slow, or it can't communicate well with the router with a floor in the way. If it's the latter, a WiFi repeater could help.

I run a 100 ft. cable to my room. I get good speed wireless, but be prepared for interference and dropped packets.
