how to get Lenovo Thinkpad T400 into safe mode

hello i have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 and the computer has crashed by some software i had put on it now ive been trying to fix that but nothing has worked

Things i have tried and They have Not worked

tapping F8
holding FN and F8
F12 opens { boot menu Not what i need}
Tapping F11
holding FN and F11
pressing F9
pressing F7
pressingF6
holding FN and F5
holding or pressing F4


***** Holing FN amd F3 worked {opened adavancve options Then stopped working}\

Have You tried the ThinkVantage key? It pretty much gets You everywhere where the shortcuts You tried to hit will get in different cases.

ive hit every button on this computer nothing has happened

melvin cowell - when You turn on the notebook, You need to repeatedly keep pressing ThinkVantage, till something like "normal start interrupted" or so appears, than You'll have access to BiOS, Boot options and System Recovery.
