Honestly, they gave the game so many performance patches now and just recently fixed VRAM memory leak issues that the game now runs very well on the older 3070Ti, even with Raytracing on; it used 6GB VRAM at 1080p, and 1440p isn'tso much more demandingas to fill up the remaining 2GB VRAM. Unless you want to play on 4K, that is, then it gets tight. But I doubt that someone with a 770 even aims for that, or at least I don't hope.Step 1, purchase or build a new rig.
Step 2, enjoy the game
In all seriousness that machine sounds too old, this is a very demanding game.
I would use a 3080 or better on this game, ideally a 4070TI or better.
Even if the GTX 770 could run a new DX12 game like HL, even at 720p (assuming that 720p exists in that game), the frame rate would be so low that it would be a slide-show and completely unplayable.
They are, but you actually can go higher like the person I mentioned above. A 970 isn't that much faster than a 960, yet they play on 1080p with a mix of high, low, and medium settings just fine. Or, well. Did. They seem to have an issue since the last patch, mainly with the game permanently slowing down when switching windows. Also, my old 1070 managed a little below 60 FPS with high-ultra settings in 1080p, which isn't possible according to the recommendations, either. They are being quite conservative for the lower tier. Still, a 770 is simply too slow no matter how you slice it.The minimum specs are for 720p.
Yes, and even if you could get the game to load, even at 720p, it would be unplayable. I'm sure that you'd be able to play games like Borderlands 3 or GTA V but games like Hogwarts Legacy can even bring my RX 6800 XT to its knees. The minimum specs are for 720p.
