How to get my motherboard back from Gigabyte

Warranty service is a vital aspect of any component. Motherboard warranty from the key manufactures seems especially rigid though. A 2-4 week turnaround is the norm, even though some manufactures (e. g., Gigabyte) insists that their turnaround time is 5-days.

My recent experience came when I sent my motherboard to Gigabyte to be tested. They received it 8-22. On 9-3 it was returned to me, but I never got it because the UPS driver mistakenly tried to deliver to the wrong address and the tenant there refused it. On 9-04 Gigabyte received it back. I called and emailed them telling how I was never contacted by UPS and I would never decline something I was looking forward to. Now Gigabyte claims that I did refuse it, and apparently will not re-ship it.

Any ideas how I can get my motherboard back? What's your experiences? How would you rate individual motherboard companies?

I should note that other companies like G.Skill and Corsair are EXCELLENT!

Contact UPS and try to get them to provide proof that they delivered it to the wrong address. Supply that info to Gigabyte.

I'm sure Gigabyte will send you your board (even without the UPS SNAFU proof) BUT they will probably (most likely) make you pay shipping (+customs and brokerage fees if shipping out of country).

I'm glad to hear you had good dealing's with Corsair. I certainly didn't. While their Customer Service people were polite and prompt, their shipping department was not.

They are sitting on it for some reason. When I called they were very polite and they claimed they would take care of the problem immediately, but something stopped them. If they say I owe shipping, I will pay. Not to sound paranoid, but they seem to want to give me a hard time by sitting on it.

I think they will eventually ship it, but I already purchased a new motherboard. I can always build a nice backup computer with the spare parts, when Gigabyte does ship it.

I'm also in the process of filling out forms to file a claim with The Department of Consumer Affairs.

Mention your possible forms action to them on the phone, see what they say, then pose the shipping cost question if they still wont play ball. I understand for them they want to minimize costs but they can't keep your property.
