The consoles aren't wireless so I would need to connect them to a router. My current router is too far away. Is there a way to add a second router without loosing speed? I know I could make a repeater but I read that it causes speed loss. I'm not the only one in the household and don't want to alarm others. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Repeaters come in a couple of flavors you should be aware of. Netgear makes dual band repeaters that use one band for connection to the router and the other for connection to the devices. They call it Fast Lane technology. This maximizes wireless transfer speeds. For gaming though latency is key. The best solution will always be wired. As was mentioned you can use a bridge. This is a wireless device with Ethernet ports. This would be your best approach. Now the challenge you have is how far away you are from your router. If your game boxes don't see the wireless signal that means a bridge probably won't either. So you are back to a repeater.

Other option is getting a high powered router like a Netgear Nighthawk R7000. This...

Other option is getting a high powered router like a Netgear Nighthawk R7000. This has exceptional range and speed. Will help everyone on your wireless network.

But experimentation is what you will need to try.

Here are some bridges and extenders to look at.

Netgear WNCE4004 4 port bridge http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Universal-Ethernet-Adapter-WNCE4004/dp/B008LTPFG6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408039217&sr=8-2&keywords=netgear+wireless+n+bridge

Netgear AC1200 EX6200 Repaeater (best repeater out there and is AC compatible) http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1200-Power-700mW-Extender/dp/B00HQ883QW/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408039274&sr=1-7&keywords=netgear+repeater

Netgear WN2500RP Dual Band Repeater http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Dual-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender/dp/B006V72AHC/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408039274&sr=1-4&keywords=netgear+repeater

Good luck.
