How to get rid of ESD

Hey guys i just got my msi gtx 970 but i am afraid to hold it because of ESD. So how can i get rid of ESD from my body? Should I touch something that is grounded? My pc is not grounded but my refrigerator is. So should i touch the metal part of my refrigerator after turning it off? Experts please help me!!! Thank you!!

Problem is i haven't put my gpu in the case yet. It is still in the anti-static bag which comes with the package.

Are you saying i should just touch some bare metal? Like my Watch backplate ? Or does it have to be grounded?

Touch any metallic part of your case without touching any components that may be inside the case, just ensure that if you have already installed the power supply that you don't have it plugged into the wall as you don't want to be earthed you only want to be on the same charge level as your case

As i said before, the gpu is NOT in my case. So if have ESD in my body how can i get same charge level as my gpu by touching my case when it's not even there rather in the plastic pakage?

No, it's not installed in my computer. Its still in the anti-static plastic bag which came with the box. I opened the box but am afraid to remove the gpu from the plastic bag because of ESD.

You want to be on the same electrical level as your case before you remove the card from the anti-static bag and start handling it. simply touch a metal part of your case and then remove the card from the bag ensuring you don't place the card on any conductive surface, if you need to put it down before you install it simply rest it on the box it came in and remember every time you pick the card up ensure you touch your case!

I think that won't work since rubber builds up even more ESD in human body. ( I think!!! )
