How to get rid of linkbucks virus?

Hi,

Im not entirely sure if I have the linkbucks browser hijacker but every time I start my computer, chrome opens up with 4 tabs of linkbucks ads... I have tried checking the task manager for unusual processes but can't find any, I've scanned my computer with malwarebytes, adwcleaner, Micrsoft security essentials, HitmanPro and combofix to no avail (except for HitmanPro which found 3 threats which I can't remove as there's no option for a free trial and I'm not paying to remove 3 viruses). I've done a full scan on malwarebytes which found nothing and same with security essentials. Any Guide to deleting this stupid thing would be very much appreciated as it's starting to do my nut in!!!

I just had this problem removed, i firstly scanned the full system with Microsoft security essentials, which returned nothing... i then uninstalled chrome using a third-party uninstaller "to remove every traces of it" called super uninstaller " i think", reinstalled chrome and now its working just fine.

Well at this point it could be too well integrated into your registry. But here are a couple more things you can do before backing up the rest of your files and re-formatting your whole HDD.

1. Click start > click 'All Programs' > click 'Startup' folder (it should be empty, anything in there delete)
2. Click start > type 'msconfig' and check startup tab. Uncheck everything and restart.
3. During bootup kick it into 'safemode'.
4. Do steps 1 and 2 and restart.
5. Restart, evaluate, and then use Malwarebytes and Essentials again.
6. If done great, if not, start a system Restore and/or re-format and start fresh again. Good luck!!

Thank you so much! I never even thought about using msconfig derp. I went into the startup tab and there was a program in there named AvgScan and I don't have avg and the manfucturer showed up as unknown which is kind of a fault by the creator. I then typed avgscan into the startup and went into the 'properties > 'open file folder' then deleted 'avgscan.bat'. Will I have to get rid of other traces of it now or is it completely removed? Thanks for the fast reply btw and sorry for typing the solution to you but one of my main pet peeves is when someone fixes a problem and doesnt say how 😉
